FERIA DE ABRIL EN SEVILLA

The Feria de Sevilla dates back to the mid 1800's.  Two councillors from Northern Spain proposed the idea for a livestock fair to help pull Sevilla out of it's economic struggle caused by the French invasion.  The fair only began with 3 'casetas' or tents and today there are a little over 1,000.  The women of Sevilla dress in 'trajes' or dresses with flowers in their hair and the men wear 'cordobés' or hats with a 'traje corto', which is a suit with a short jacket.  Most men have replaced the traje corto with an everyday suit.  Along with the hundreds of casetas and dresses there are horse drawn carriages through the streets, there is dancing until 7 in the morning, as well as food and 'rebujito' galore! Rebujito is a drink made with sherry wine and 7Up, so sweet but dressed to kill.

Feria de Abril was nothing I've ever experienced before.  The lights, the horses, the dancing, just the environment in general was sureal.  I tried to keep my camera on me while I was on the Fair grounds but it was difficult hence the fact it was an all day/all night affair.  Here are some of the stills I was able to capture to help you have a better understanding of the beauty of La Feria de Abril en Sevilla.
